It might be day #5863 of quarantine, but that doesn’t mean we have to run out of new (& slightly desperate graspings for) hobbies to indulge!
As we all know, times RN are tough…& rough…& just straight-up weird. So finding creative ways to escape has ~never~ been more essential.
Enter: embroidery. More specifically – cross stitching!
You might recall it from something in your grandparent’s house circa the ‘80s, or even the infamous talking pillow from that season one episode of Breaking Bad (which also- currently rewatching & OBSESSED). But funny enough, it’s recently been blowing my mind at how prevalent this classic art form has become within the goth aesthetic.
We’re talking bats, skulls, ouija planchettes, subversive sayings – the works. Which, of course, we’re SO here for. Given the goth-meets-granny mashup presents a hilariously fantastic contrast that really just…works. You know?
Needless to say, this isn’t your grandma’s needlepoint. And since we can’t all buy human-sized hamster wheels to run out our bouts of anxiety each day, this might just be the next best thing.
Here are a few particularly awesome shops worth checking out for spooky patterns & kits galore:
Never will I ever take a trip to a craft store for granted again. But if you are in need of supplies mid-quarantine to crank out one of these dark delights…godspeed trying to land a curbside pickup.
